SHOWA means “finding a balance between different elements” in Japanese. From the very start, this principle is the red line that runs throughout our heritage and defines us today: a company committed to creating harmony between our surroundings and ourselves, leading responsibly and pioneering sustainable solutions that protect our people and our planet.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFE MANUFACTURING

REACH is an EU regulation adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment against chemical risks. It stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. To ensure that what we do is safe for the environment and the people in it, SHOWA’s entire manufacturing process is in line with the requirements of the European REACH Regulation. By being a 100% integrated manufacturer, we can guarantee that all SHOWA products today and in the future will remain free from substances of very high concern (SVHC).

EVERY HAND COUNTS WHEN TRYING TO MOVE A MOUNTAIN

We continuously work on lowering our carbon footprint through small and large actions in our offices: reducing paper usage through digitization, implementing strict recycling programs and encouraging employees to use public transport and bicycles to come to work.

In our production plants, we also do what we can to minimize our impact. For example, ensuring that the water we use is properly treated afterwards so that it is not harmful to the environment. Where possible, we recycle used PVC gloves from our customers. Our efforts to reuse and conserve resources in Japan and Malaysia have enabled us to obtain the ISO 14001 certification -a global standard in environmental management that helps us to continually improve our operations.
